Zelenskyy Confirms First Kyiv Visit for Trump Envoys Witkoff and Kushner This Sunday

US President Donald Trump’s special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are set to make their first visit to Kyiv on Sunday, September 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed. The US envoys are expected to meet with Zelenskyy to discuss Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The visit comes as Axios reports that Witkoff and Kushner will first travel to Moscow on Friday, September 4, where they are scheduled to hold discussions with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Saturday, September 5.

Ukrainian and American officials noted that a potential visit to Kyiv had been under discussion for several months.
Additionally, US Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had reportedly planned to fly directly to Kyiv and land at Boryspil International Airport during their visit, according to Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko, as reported by ZN.ua.
It is worth noting that no commercial or civil flights have operated over Ukrainian airspace, and Boryspil Airport has remained closed to aircraft, since the very first day of the full-scale Russian invasion.
At the same time, reports indicated that Witkoff and Kushner were considering alternative arrangements for their planned visit to Kyiv due to Russian threats, according to Kyiv Independent.
The continuous aerial campaign against Kyiv and the surrounding region began in late August 2026, marking the start of an uninterrupted daily assault of Russian drone and missile strikes.
This unrelenting bombardment carried on day after day into September, forcing civilians into shelters under constant air raid alerts and causing repeated damage to homes and infrastructure across multiple districts.
