On the morning of April 28, 2025, the Ukrainian Air Force lost a Su-27 fighter jet during an operation to counter an enemy drone attack.

A special commission has been established to investigate the incident, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The aircraft was performing a complex combat mission involving aviation support for Ukrainian ground forces and the interception of Russian strike drones when it was lost. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review, with an official investigation already underway.

The pilot successfully ejected and was promptly located by a search and rescue team. He was transported to a medical facility for evaluation. According to the Air Force, his condition is stable, and there are no threats to his life or health.

Further updates are expected following the conclusion of the commission’s investigation.

Earlier, on April 12, 2025, Ukrainian Air Force Captain Pavlo Ivanov was killed during a combat mission on an F-16 fighter jet. Aged 26, Ivanov died while defending Ukraine, with a joint commission currently investigating the incident.
