According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strike was conducted near the village of Yelyzavetivka. Footage from objective control suggests the use of precision-guided munitions, as the detonation pattern closely resembles that of 1,000-pound Mark 83 bombs equipped with JDAM-ER kits.
The targeted site belonged to the 28th Rifle Battalion of Russia’s 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade. It was reportedly utilized as a base for launching unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against Ukrainian defense positions in Sumy region.
The General Staff emphasized that this operation is part of Ukraine’s systematic efforts to weaken enemy capabilities along the border and neutralize any assets that could be employed against Ukrainian military forces or civilians.
“The enemy must understand: any aggression against Ukraine will have inevitable consequences,” the General Staff stated.
Earlier, Ukraine became the first country to use 1,000-pound Mark 83 bombs modified with JDAM-ER kits in combat. A video from the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade showed a Su-27 deploying these precision-guided bombs on Russian positions.
OSINT analysts compared the footage with known bomb sizes, confirming the adaptation of this variant. While the US and Boeing have not officially acknowledged a 1,000-pound JDAM-ER, evidence suggests Ukraine may have independently modified the system.
