Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade successfully regained positions and rescued a group of captive Ukrainian soldiers during a confrontation with a Russian sabotage group in the Kharkiv region, the unit reported on October 7.

This operation confirms an October 5 report regarding a clash in the Lyman direction, near the administrative border of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv regions.

According to a statement from the Tactical Group Kreminna, four soldiers under the 3rd Brigade's command were captured by a Russian sabotage group of around 10 fighters. After noticing their absence and detecting the movement of the Russian unit with a drone, one of the 3rd Brigade's battalions deployed an M113 armored vehicle to intercept them.

The soldiers engaged the Russian sabotage group, facilitating the escape of the captives back to Ukrainian positions. With Russian troops pushed back, the 3rd Brigade also managed to reclaim lost territory.

“The enemy has been repelled, and the positions of our forces in this sector of the front have been restored. The outcome of the battle was determined by the combined fire support of the battalion and brigade, as well as the personal courage and bravery of the personnel of the 3rd Assault Brigade,” the statement reads.

“During the battle, Ukrainian servicemen eliminated a sabotage group of Russian occupiers and damaged or destroyed enemy fortifications, setting the stage for further success in the area.”

The 3rd Assault Brigade has been holding the line near the village of Borova in Kharkiv region, successfully repelling repeated Russian assaults.
