Ukrainian Defense Forces Destroy $10 Million Russian Osa-AKM Surface-to-Air Missile System, Video

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully destroyed a Russian automated military surface-to-air missile system (SAM) known as the "Osa-AKM," valued at approximately $10 million, according to the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The "Osa-AKM" surface-to-air missile system is a Soviet design introduced in the 1970s. It is intended to protect military installations and units from aerial attacks. The "Osa-AKM" employs solid-fuel missiles and can engage both aircraft and helicopters at ranges of up to 15 km and altitudes of up to 10 km.

This system features an autonomous control mechanism, allowing it to operate independently from other air defense assets. While the "Osa-AKM" has been utilized by the armed forces of several countries, it is gradually being replaced by more modern systems.
