For the first time, the Ukrainian Navy participated in NATO's largest exercise involving unmanned systems in maritime operations REPMUS 24.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces used the DELTA combat system to coordinate over 50 unmanned aerial, ground, marine, and underwater vehicles during the exercise.

In addition to coordinating these drones, DELTA successfully connected and received location data from the German “robotic dog” Robotics-L by Rheinmetall. This quadruped is designed for mobility in challenging terrains, helping soldiers by performing various tasks and providing protection from minefields.

The exercises were held near the Troia Peninsula in Portugal from September 9 to 27. Ukrainian forces practiced using drones for various missions, including anti-submarine warfare, mine neutralization, and protection of critical underwater infrastructure.

During the exercise, DELTA also integrated with other combat systems, enabling efficient data sharing and differentiation between friendly and enemy forces. This significantly enhanced operational control and coordination among the participating forces.

“This year’s series of NATO events involving Ukraine highlights the value of our military’s innovative developments for our Western partners. Joint NATO maneuvers like REPMUS 24 not only facilitate experience exchange but also improve the level of cooperation between Ukraine and our partners. The Ukrainian Navy’s participation in these large-scale exercises marks a significant step forward in the development and technological advancement of our Defense Forces,” said Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernogorenko.

DELTA is a situational awareness and battlefield management system developed by Ukraine. It integrates data from troops, civilian officials, and various sources like sensors, satellites, and drones, providing real-time information on enemy positions. Used for managing combat operations and secure information sharing, DELTA was first tested in 2017 and developed with NATO's cooperation. It has been actively employed by Ukrainian forces since August 2022.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Command released a video highlighting training exercises with the Skynex air defense system. Currently, Ukraine is the sole operator of Skynex, with two systems in active service.
