Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina left no chance to Chinese Wang Xinyu in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2024, thus advancing to the quarterfinals.

The match lasted a bit longer than an hour and ended with a score of 6:2, 6:1.

It was not an easy day to play on for Svitolina, since Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, hitting a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital in Kyiv. At least 31 people were killed and 125 injured.

“It’s a very difficult day today for Ukrainian people,” she said. “So yes, it was not easy to focus today on the match. Since the morning, it’s very difficult to read the news.”

Svitolina wore a black, mourning ribbon on her white dress during the game,
