Ukrainian Fencer Olha Kharlan Advances to Semifinals in the Olympics

Olha Kharlan concluded her quarterfinal match with a spectacular victory over Hungarian fencer Anna Marton, winning 15-7.

Kharlan has secured a spot in the medal rounds. In the semifinals, it will be determined whether she will compete for gold or bronze. If Kharlan reaches the gold medal match, she will guarantee Ukraine its first medal of these Olympic Games.

The 2024 Summer Olympics are being held in Paris, France. Traditionally, fencers are among the first to compete for medals.

In the individual women’s sabre event, which began today, July 29, three Ukrainian fencers participated, but only Olha Kharlan advanced to the decisive stages.

The semifinals and finals of the sabre tournament will take place later today, July 29.
