Ukrainian Flamingo Missile Reportedly Strikes Russia’s Oryol as Explosions Rock City

Russian targets in the city of Oryol came under attack, with local residents reporting explosions and fires; the governor of Oryol Oblast, Andrey Klychkov, said the strike was carried out “allegedly by unmanned aerial vehicles,” in a Telegram post on November 13.
Klychkov claimed several incoming munitions were shot down by Russian air defenses and said falling debris landed in a residential area.

Later, the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the overnight attack on Russian military assets across the occupied regions and inside the Russian territory.
In addition, the Armed Forces confirmed that the attack was carried out using Ukrainian-made weapons, such as FP-5 Flamingo, Bars missiles, and An-196 Liutiy strike drones.
Russia’s Defense Ministry later asserted that its forces destroyed 130 Ukrainian drones overnight, including seven over the Oryol region, though the ministry offered no visual confirmation.
In a Telegram message posted in the “Nikolayevsky Vanek” group, Mykolaiv regional governor Vitaliy Kim said the strike on Oryol involved Ukraine’s new long-range cruise missile, Flamingo.

“‘Oryol-on-the-swamps’ didn’t sleep last night either—it was trying to fend off our Flamingo missiles with a very interesting message,” Kim wrote.
Flamingo is described as a long-range Ukrainian cruise missile capable of striking targets up to 3,000 kilometers away. Its warhead weighs roughly one metric ton, and the missile cruises at 850–950 km/h.

FirePoint says Flamingo uses a combined inertial and satellite guidance system and can be made ready for launch in 20 to 40 minutes.
Earlier, Russian Telegram channels claimed that Ukraine used its domestically produced FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles in recent strikes against targets inside Russia.
