Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Armored Column Advancing Under Soviet Flags in Kursk Region, Video

Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled a large-scale assault by Russian troops in the Kursk region, neutralizing an armored column that attempted to advance under Soviet-era flags. The engagement took place near the settlement of Nikolske.
According to a video released by Ukraine’s 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade, the Russian military launched an attack involving over ten tanks and a company-sized force. The footage shows Ukrainian forces effectively targeting and destroying Russian armored vehicles using drones, while Russian units struggled to maneuver through mined terrain.
Reports from Russian military-affiliated sources earlier in the day suggested that marines from Russia’s 155th Brigade attempted an offensive in the area. They advanced in what was described as a parade-like formation, with armored vehicles bearing red Soviet flags.
Ukrainian forces, utilizing a combination of FPV drones and bombers, disrupted the attack. The 47th Brigade reported that Russian troops showed no hesitation despite encountering dense minefields and continuous aerial strikes. Drone footage captured one Russian tank operator leaving his vehicle before being struck by an FPV drone.
A Russian Telegram channel, citing internal military sources, claimed that the offensive was planned in two waves. The first was intended to weaken Ukrainian defenses by forcing a premature response, while the second, involving the 155th Brigade, was designed to exploit perceived vulnerabilities. However, the strategy failed due to an extended pause between the waves, allowing Ukrainian forces time to regroup and prepare.
The attack, which took place in daylight, provided Ukrainian units with a tactical advantage in identifying and countering the assault. A lack of engineering reconnaissance on the Russian side further contributed to their losses. The engagement lasted approximately 40 minutes before Russian forces were decisively repelled.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force conducted a high-precision strike on a Russian drone launch site in Kursk region, near Yelyzavetivka. According to the General Staff, the site, used by Russia’s 28th Rifle Battalion to target Sumy region, was hit with JDAM-ER precision-guided bombs.
