Ukrainian Forces Sink Submarine and Damage S-400 System in Crimea

Ukrainian forces have carried out strikes against a submarine and an S-400 missile system in the temporarily occupied Crimea, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The General Staff confirmed significant damage to four launchers of the S-400 “Triumf” air defense system. The strikes were carried out by missile troops in coordination with the Ukrainian Navy.

Additionally, in the port of Sevastopol, the submarine of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, “Rostov-on-Don,” was successfully targeted and sunk as a result of the attack.

The submarine B-237 “Rostov-on-Don,” classified as a Kilo-class submarine by NATO, is capable of launching Kalibr missiles. It was commissioned on December 26, 2014. On September 13, 2023, the submarine sustained significant damage from a Ukrainian missile strike and had been undergoing repairs and testing in Sevastopol harbor. The submarine is valued at approximately $300 million.
