Ukrainian Suicide Drones Strike Russian Pantsir-S1 Units in Cross-Border Attack

On April 7, Operators from Ukraine’s 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment “Achilles” and the 43rd Artillery Brigade identified and struck two Russian Pantsir air defense systems using suicide drones.
According to the “Come Back Alive” charity foundation, the targets were located with the help of a Shark UAV, which was provided to the 43rd Brigade in 2024.
Video footage suggests that the first Pantsir-S1 was hit near its combat module, causing a fire and rendering the system inoperable.
The second system was reportedly attacked using a UAS SETH tactical drone. This drone features an automated guidance system, allowing it to reach and strike its target even if the video signal is lost at a considerable distance. The hit was later confirmed by reconnaissance drones.
UAS SETH drones were first publicly introduced in March 2025 when the “Come Back Alive” foundation supplied a batch to the Azov Brigade. However, the drone was initially showcased during German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to Ukraine on December 2, 2024, though its name was not officially disclosed at the time.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced significant progress in the country’s drone production capabilities, citing the addition of over 20 new certified fiber-optic-controlled drone models since the beginning of the year.
