Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba has embarked on his fourth African tour, starting with a meeting with Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera.

“We appreciate Malawi’s firm and consistent stance on Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as its support for the Peace Summit communique,” Kuleba stated on his Twitter (X) account.

All three countries of the African tour — Malawi, Zambia and Mauritius — will be visited by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the first time in history.

The meeting in Malawi had a special emphasis on Ukraine’s significant role in enhancing food security, including the exchange of agricultural expertise and technologies, as well as the humanitarian initiative “Grain From Ukraine.”

Ukraine is not only grateful; we also want to be helpful. We are aware of the severe impact of climate change on Malawi’s food security. Per President Zelenskyy’s instructions, I conveyed that Ukraine has decided to assist Malawi as part of our “Grain From Ukraine” program,” according to Kuleba.

This diplomatic visit is part of Kuleba’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s ties with African nations. Following his visit to Malawi, Kuleba is scheduled to travel to Zambia and Mauritius to further develop bilateral relations and explore areas of cooperation.

In Zambia, the Minister will address the enhancement of bilateral relations, political dialogue, and collaboration within international organizations.

In Mauritius, known for having one of Africa’s most successful economies, the discussions will center on attracting investment and encouraging Mauritian businesses to participate in Ukraine’s reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.
