The Ukrainian defense forces have struck a rare Russian counter-battery radar, the 1K148 Yastreb-AV, behind enemy lines in the Donetsk direction.

The video was recorded by the 14th Regiment of Unmanned Aviation Systems, identifiable by their emblems. The footage of the radar being struck was shared by Andrii Yermak, the head of the President’s Office, on social media.

The 14th Regiment of Unmanned Aviation Systems is a military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formed in August 2023. The unit has been operational since the early days of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, though it was not officially recognized, and its elements operated as part of various units.

Yastreb-AV recently began entering the Russian army, with testing completed only at the end of 2021 or early 2022. The phased array radar system is capable of automatically tracking the trajectory of projectiles fired by enemy artillery, determining precise coordinates of their positions.

On January 2, Ukrainian military first struck the Russian 1K148 Yastreb-AV in the Kherson region using the M142 HIMARS installation.
