Ukrainian Intelligence Eliminates Three Russian Operators From Special-Purpose UAV Unit

On July 4, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate (HUR) announced the elimination of three Russian drone operators affiliated with the “Bars-Sarmat” special-purpose drone unit of the occupying forces.
According to the official statement, the incident occurred near the outskirts of the temporarily occupied village of Strilkove in Kherson region, where a Chevrolet Aveo carrying the three operatives exploded.
“All three were operators of unmanned aerial vehicles from the so-called special-purpose drone center of the Russian occupying army, known as ‘Bars-Sarmat,’” the agency said in a statement posted to its official channels.

The “Bars-Sarmat” center was reportedly established in 2024 in occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region. It is believed to be focused on testing and deploying new robotic and electronic warfare systems, including drones, ground-based robotic complexes, electronic intelligence and jamming technologies, as well as command and communication tools.
The unit is reportedly commanded by former head of Roscosmos , Dmitry Rogozin. The structure includes several subunits, and the group targeted in the July 4 incident belonged to “Bars-1,” which is based in occupied Henichesk.
“The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reminds: every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people will be met with just retribution,” the agency added.
Previously, it was reported that one of Russia’s most decorated military snipers has been killed while fighting in Ukraine.
