As a result of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) attack on the Russian military airfield Savasleika on August 16, significant damage was inflicted upon multiple Russian warplanes.

According to intelligence sources, the strike destroyed a MIG-31K/I aircraft, two Il-76 transport aircraft, and damaged approximately five other aircraft, likely also MIG-31K/I models.

This attack follows another strike on the same airfield just days earlier, on August 13, during which a warehouse containing fuel was hit, and an additional MIG-31K/I aircraft sustained damage.

According to space intelligence, at the time of the August 13 attack, the Savasleika airfield housed a significant array of Russian military aircraft, including 11 MIG-31K/I aircraft, one Il-76 transport aircraft, and five Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.

Savasleika Airfield is a strategic military installation located in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. The airfield is utilized by the Russian Federation for various purposes, including the training of aviation specialists, testing new types of aircraft, and the instruction of military pilots.

Additionally, on the night of August 14, in the territory of the Kursk region, Russia, during the execution of a combat mission, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Su-34 fighter bomber.
