Ukrainian athlete Liudmyla Danylina finished second in the 1500-meter race at the Paris Paralympics.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian secured the silver medal, setting a personal best with a time of 4:28.40 minutes.

Danylina was only beaten by Polish para-athlete Barbara Bieganowska-Zając, finishing over two seconds behind her. The podium was completed by Brazilian Antonía Keila da Silva Barros, who trailed Danylina by one second.

Danylina continued her medal streak at the Paralympic Games, which began in 2016 with a bronze in Rio de Janeiro and was followed by a silver medal in Tokyo in 2021. All her Paralympic medals have been in the 1500m race.

The day before, para-athlete Pomazan won gold in the shot put. She threw the shot 12.75 meters in the final, securing her third Paralympic victory in this event following triumphs in London and Tokyo.

Ukrainian athletes continue to hold seventh place in the medal standings of the Games. The Ukrainian team has won a total of 61 medals (15 gold, 20 silver, and 26 bronze).

The XVII Summer Paralympic Games mark the eighth Summer Games featuring Ukrainian Paralympians. Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes competing in 17 of the 22 sports. The competition will continue until September 8.
