Ukrainian Maritime Corridor Exports 60 Million Tons of Cargo Amid War

Authors

In the past 11 months, the Ukrainian maritime corridor has facilitated the export of 60 million tons of cargo, primarily from the ports of Odesa, according to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA). This figure includes 40.6 million tons of grain that have been sent to 46 countries worldwide.

Among the notable shipments, the Manta Hacer bulker transported 25,200 tons of humanitarian wheat to Yemen. This shipment was chartered by the United Nations World Food Program, highlighting Ukraine’s role in global food aid despite the ongoing war.

The Ukrainian maritime corridor has managed to sustain its operations despite the challenges posed by ongoing warfare and attacks on port infrastructure. The Ukrainian ports remain crucial for global food security, particularly in the supply of grain to Asia and Africa. Prior to the full-scale invasion, Ukraine was the fifth-largest wheat exporter in the world.

In addition to the grain exports, the corridor has handled a total of 57.55 million tons of cargo and accommodated 2,059 vessels, exporting goods to 46 countries.
