A Ukrainian tactical aircraft carried out a precision airstrike on a Russian troop concentration in the village of Kozinka, located in Russia’s Belgorod region, according to footage published by military-affiliated Telegram channel “Sonyashnyk” on June 18.

The strike was reportedly conducted by a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet equipped with two French-made AASM Hammer precision-guided bombs.

The video shows the bombs penetrating the roof of a building and detonating inside, destroying the structure and the Russian personnel taking shelter within it. According to the open-source intelligence group WarArchive, the strike hit a building in the center of Kozinka.

The use of French AASM Hammer bombs marks another instance of Ukraine’s increasing reliance on Western-supplied high-precision munitions to strike military targets inside Russian territory.

The AASM (Armement Air-Sol Modulaire) is a modular guided bomb that can be equipped with GPS, inertial, and laser guidance, allowing for highly accurate strikes even in contested airspace.

Earlier, reports emerged that France planned to manufacture 1,200 AASM Hammer guided air-to-ground bombs for Ukraine this year, significantly increasing production compared to the 830 units delivered in 2024.

Developed by the French defense technology group Safran Electronics and Defense, the AASM Hammer is a modular precision-guided munition consisting of two key components: a guidance system mounted at the front of the bomb and a propulsion unit at the rear.
