Ukrainian Officials Arrive in Saudi Arabia for High-Stakes U.S. Talks

A Ukrainian delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia for negotiations with U.S. representatives set to take place on March 11, marking a crucial round of discussions on Ukraine’s strategy and the path to ending Russia’s war, according to Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office on March 11.
“The team is on-site. We’re preparing for work,” he wrote. Yermak, who is leading the Ukrainian delegation, emphasized that the talks will focus on “defending Ukraine’s interests” and working with American partners on a clear vision for ending the war.
The Ukrainian delegation also includes Andrii Sibyha, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; Rustem Umerov, the Minister of Defense; and Pavlo Palisa, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office and President Zelenskyy’s key military advisor.

On the U.S. side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is leading the delegation, accompanied by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
Speaking ahead of the negotiations, Rubio stated, “I hope we’ll have a really good meeting tomorrow, and very soon, we’ll be in a different place.”
Earlier, reports emerged that Britain was advising Ukraine on handling peace talks with the United States as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepares ahead of negotiations with the U.S. in Saudi Arabia.
The move comes as the UK also seeks to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to resume intelligence sharing with Kyiv following an abrupt cutoff that could hinder Ukraine’s defenses against Russian attacks.
