Ukrainian military photographer Kostiantyn Liberov was named the laureate of the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award. It is awarded annually to war correspondents from around the world.

Liberov won the audience's open vote in the "Photography" category with his powerful series titled “War in Ukraine: Pain, Despair, and Hope”. He also secured second place in the same category, as selected by the jury.

"This is a great honor and an incredible achievement, both personally and for Ukrainian military photography in general. Thanks to this victory, we continue to fulfill our mission, to highlight Ukraine's struggle and show the truth to the whole world," Liberov noted.

The Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award was established in 1994 in the French city of Bayeux to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II. The award aims to honor journalists from around the globe by recognizing excellence across four media formats: press, radio, television, and photography.

Kostiantyn Liberov is a Ukrainian photojournalist who, alongside his wife Vlada Liberova, has documented the impacts of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Together, they have captured powerful images from cities such as Kharkiv, Lysychansk, Sviatohirsk, Mykolaiv, Bucha, Irpin, Kyiv, and many others, portraying the harsh realities of war.
