Ukrainian Power Engineer Dmytro Petlenko Killed in Russian Morning Attack After 30 Years of Service
Russian airstrike on Ukraine on December 25 killed Dmytro Petlenko, an employee at one of DTEK's thermal power plants. The DTEK Group reported this on Facebook.
“Today, Russian occupiers killed our colleague Dmytro Petlenko, an energy specialist working at one of our thermal power plants. After a search operation, he was found under the rubble with no signs of life,” the message stated.
DTEK added that Petlenko was 51 years old and had dedicated more than 30 years of his life to working in the energy sector, being a long time worker at the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant.
After Enerhodar became occupied by Russian forces, he was reassigned to another DTEK plant, where he “continued the battle for light for the last year and a half.”
“This is a significant loss for the Ukrainian energy sector. We extend our deepest condolences to Dmytro's family, and will provide them with all necessary assistance,” DTEK wrote.
In the morning of December 25, Russian forces launched a combined attack using strategic aviation, Kalibr cruise missiles, S-300/S-400 ballistic missiles, and drones, targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Explosions were heard in Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, and Kryvyi Rih.
