Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Attend G7 Summit in Italy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate either online or in-person at the Group of Seven (G7) summit, as reported by the President’s spokesperson Serhii Nykyforov.
The key topics of his negotiations will include further increasing Ukraine’s defense support, accelerating the supply of F-16 fighter jets, and strengthening Ukrainian air defense systems.
“Whether online or physically present, President Zelenskyy will be there. Without a doubt. The G7 are our main partners. We will discuss with them the key topics of our relations, including dialogues in bilateral formats with G7 countries,” said the President’s spokesperson during a television broadcast.
According to Nykyforov, President Zelenskyy intends to discuss developing a coalition of Western fighter jets, and steps to accelerate the supply of F-16s with US representatives attending the summit in Italy.
Another key topic will be strengthening Ukrainian air defense with additional systems and missiles. “This is the most sensitive issue for our cities and front lines. And within the G7 framework, we expect key decisions,” said Nykyforov.
Earlier, the participation of the President of Ukraine in the G7 summit was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.
This year’s G7 Leaders' Summit will be chaired by Italy in Apulia from June 13-15.
