Ukrainian Prosecutors Identify Russian Soldier Behind Attempted Murder of a Civilian in Bucha

Ukrainian law enforcement officers have identified the Russian serviceman responsible for attempting to kill a civilian during Russian occupation of Bucha, Kyiv region in March 2022, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office on February 4.
The suspect has been charged with attempting to violate the laws and customs of war, in combination with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The accused is the platoon commander of the Russian 3rd Parachute Company, 234th Airborne Assault Regiment, part of the 76th Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Forces.

The investigation revealed that the suspect and other soldiers were on patrol in Bucha when they opened fire on a local resident returning home.
The man managed to flee to a nearby house, but the suspect found him, fired another shot, and approached the man, who appeared lifeless. The soldier kicked the man and assumed he was dead. Despite his injuries, the man survived, according to the report.
This marks the second time this serviceman has been accused of crimes against civilians in Ukraine.
Previously, the National Police of Ukraine identified 12 Russian servicemen implicated in the killing of civilians in Bucha during March 2022. The victims, ranging in age from 14 to 69, were attempting to go to work, evacuate family members, or gather food amid the hostilities
