Ukrainian Robot Guns Down Russian APC Packed With Troops in Close-Range Night Attack, Video

Ukrainian assault troops used a ground-based robotic combat platform to stop a Russian armored personnel carrier and derail an attempted night assault, according to the 5th Separate Assault Brigade, which released footage of the engagement on December 10.

The unit said Russian forces were preparing a nighttime push on the brigade’s positions when operators deployed “Droid” ground combat robots armed with a heavy machine gun.

“One of the operators captured on thermal imaging an MT-LB carrying infantry moving directly into the kill zone,” the brigade said.

According to the statement, bursts of 12.7mm fire punched through the vehicle’s side armor, hitting both the crew and assault troops on board.

The damaged MT-LB, “having lost control, passed within centimeters of the drone before stopping after repeated strikes to its rear,” the brigade reported.

The result, they said: a destroyed MT-LB, eliminated infantry, and a foiled assault.

“5th Assault continues integrating cutting-edge technology and rewriting the rules of modern warfare,” the brigade added.

Earlier, a Ukrainian ground-based robotic platform armed with a heavy machine gun engaged a Russian armored vehicle at point-blank range during a field test near the front line.
