Ukrainian Special Forces Destroy Russian Osa Air Defense System Near Vuhledar

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) have successfully targeted and destroyed a Russian Osa (9K33/SA-8 Gecko) surface-to-air missile system on the Vuhledar front. The strike weakened Russia’s ability to defend its positions against aerial threats.
According to the Operational-Strategic Grouping of Troops (OSUV) “Khortytsia,” operators from the 413th Battalion “Raid” of the SSO carried out a precise strike on the Osa system.
The Osa air defense system is a short-range mobile platform designed to protect military units and strategic facilities from aircraft, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Its destruction reduces the effectiveness of Russian air defense in the area, limiting its capability to counter Ukrainian aerial operations.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Naval Forces conducted a strike on Russian air defense systems deep in the rear, targeting a Strela-10 and an Osa-AKM with FPV drones delivered by naval drone carriers, according to the Sternenko Community Foundation.
