A major fire broke out at a fuel depot in temporarily occupied Ukrainian city of Luhansk following the use of an unknown weapon, Militarnyi reported on September 4.
The strike has been confirmed to have been carried out by Ukrainian drone 14th USF (Unmanned Systems Forces) Regiment, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of USF reported.
Eyewitnesses said a loud explosion preceded the blaze, suggesting an attack by Ukrainian drones, according to Militarnyi.

The fire reportedly engulfed a depot on Rudnieva Street. On August 19, the Ukrainian partisan group ATESH said it had conducted reconnaissance of the site.

According to the group, the depot is a key logistical hub supplying fuel to Russian forces on the Kupiansk, Izium, and Kramatorsk axes, where the fighting is most fierce, including units from Russia’s 41st and 20th Combined Arms Armies.
Russian forces claimed the fuel tanks were nearly empty and that the fire posed no serious threat, Militarnyi states.
However, a large plume of flames and thick smoke visible across the city indicates otherwise.

This depot has been targeted repeatedly, including in attacks using ATACMS ballistic missiles, with one strike reported on May 8, 2024, Militarnyi reports.
Previously, Ukrainian drones had struck Rosneft’s Ryazan Oil Refining Company overnight, hitting one of Russia’s four largest refineries, “Madyar” confirmed.
