Ukrainian Striker Artem Dovbyk Secures "Top Scorer" Title in Spanish Football Championship

Ukrainian 26-year-old footballer Artem Dovbyk is now the season's top scorer in the Spanish Сhampionship. The striker won this title after the completion of the last round, in which the athlete repeated the record of Andriy Shevchenko.

The award was presented by the Spanish newspaper Marca.

Dovbyk, who spent his first season in the Spanish La Liga, scored 24 goals for the season as part of Girona. He outperformed his main competitor, the Norwegian Alexander Sørloth from Villarreal, by one goal.

This season, Artem Dovbyk played 39 matches for Girona across all tournaments, during which he scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists. This is his first season in Spain.

Dovbyk is the second Ukrainian in the history of the top 5 European championships to become the season's top scorer. The first was Andriy Shevchenko in the Italian Championship for Milan (seasons 1999/00 and 2003/04).

Next on the list are Briton Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Pole Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), each with 19 goals. The top five is closed by Croat Ante Budimir (Osasuna)—17 goals.
