The agreement about US and Britain lifting restrictions on Ukraine for strikes against Russia with long-range weapons could be finalized at the UN General Assembly later this month, reports Politico citing government officials who spoke anonymously.

Four British officials told Politico that they do not expect any official announcement this weekend. One suggested that the US and Britain agreement might be confirmed at the UN General Assembly later this month, where global leaders, including US President Biden and UK Prime Minister Starmer, will gather in New York.

The report stated that according to anonymous sources, recent revelations this month about Iran beginning to supply ballistic missiles to Russia have shifted Western perspectives.

Western officials also believe that this decision alone will not change the course of the war. However, the West is increasingly open to Ukraine's requests for help in stopping the Russian advance on the eastern front in recent months.

After US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a joint press conference with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Ukrainian Foreign Minister in Kyiv on September 11, Ukrainian Preident Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is awaiting the partners' decision and urged not to delay, as Russia is relocating military assets deeper into the country.
