Keith Kellogg, Special Envoy of US President Donald Trump for Ukraine and Russia, has called on Moscow to stop “stalling for time” and instead move toward immediate, trilateral peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, Kellogg wrote on X on June 30, directly responding to recent comments from Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

“Peskov’s recent comments on the state of negotiations are Orwellian,” Kellogg wrote, referring to George Orwell’s dystopian vision of state-controlled misinformation.

“Russian claims that it is the US and Ukraine stalling peace talks are unfounded. President Trump has been consistent and adamant about making progress to end the war.”

Kellogg emphasized that the United States is calling for an “immediate ceasefire” and the start of “trilateral talks to end the war,” adding that “Russia cannot continue to stall for time while it bombs civilian targets in Ukraine.”

His comments were a direct rebuttal to Peskov’s earlier claims that the pace and direction of peace talks depend primarily on Kyiv’s stance and Washington’s effectiveness as a mediator.

The Kremlin spokesman also insisted that any potential talks must reflect “the real situation on the ground,” a phrase widely interpreted as a demand that Ukraine accept Russia’s current territorial gains.

Kellogg dismissed this framing, characterizing Moscow’s narrative as a distortion of reality and reiterating that it is Russia, not Ukraine or the US, that is obstructing a genuine path to peace.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russia intends to demand that Ukraine halt the training of its military forces in Western countries as a condition for ending the war.
