US Greenlights $330M Military Support Package for Ukraine’s Air Defenses and M109 Artillery

The US State Department has approved a possible sale of support equipment to Ukraine for its air defense systems and M109 self-propelled howitzers, according to a July 24 announcement from the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on July 24.
The combined value of the two packages is estimated at approximately $330 million.

One portion of the deal, worth $180 million, covers spare parts, maintenance, and modernization of US-origin air defense systems already in Ukraine’s arsenal.
The package also includes training, expendable supplies, accessories, and US government and contractor engineering and logistics support, along with related program support elements.
A separate $150 million package focuses on the technical servicing, repair, and overhaul of M109 howitzers previously provided to Ukraine by the US and allied partners.
This portion includes training, documentation, and logistical and software-related assistance.

The M109 is a 155mm self-propelled artillery platform used by Ukrainian forces since the early phases of full-scale US military aid. These howitzers have become a key component in Ukraine’s long-range precision fire capabilities.
Earlier, the US also greenlit a potential $322 million sale to Ukraine that includes HAWK Phase III air defense systems and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, along with their maintenance and support services.
