US Navy Conducts First Official Tests of Ukrainian Sea Drones

A US delegation has met with Ukrainian drone manufacturers and conducted the first official tests of Ukrainian sea drones, as Kyiv and Washington work through potential cooperation on unmanned systems, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced on December 19.
The ministry stated that representatives from the US Navy and the US defense establishment made two visits to Ukraine to examine several maritime drone platforms, assess their technical capabilities, and hold meetings with Ukrainian manufacturers.

Ukraine presented solutions it said had already proved effective in special operations and in combat conditions, the statement said.

Ukraine said it was offering the United States a “strategic partnership,” arguing that its defense industry was helping shape the global market for unmanned systems through experience gained in modern warfare.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and its Czech partners unveiled the “Shugai” long-range strike drone, aimed at restricting enemy movement beyond 50 km, with trials now underway for combat deployment.
