The United States has expanded its sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC), adding ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan to the list. Khan previously issued an arrest warrant for Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The updated sanctions were included in an amendment to an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump. Initially published on the White House website on February 6, the order was revised on February 11 to include Khan’s name.
The sanctions freeze US-based assets of those listed and bar them and their families from entering the United States.
The ICC condemned the move, expressing regret over the sanctions against Khan.
The Court calls upon its 125 States Parties, civil society and all nations of the world to stand united for international justice.

“The Court pledges to continue carrying out its judicial mandate in the interest of millions of innocent victims of atrocities,” the ICC’s press service stated.
The ICC also urged its 125 member states, civil society organizations, and the international community to unite in support of international justice.
Trump signed the original executive order on February 6, accusing the ICC of “improper actions” against the US, Israel, and other American allies. The order enforces financial and travel restrictions on ICC officials involved in investigations targeting Americans and Israelis, as well as their family members.
