The US Air Force has signed a nearly $26 million contract with Lockheed Martin to support the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The US Department of War confirmed the deal, which aims to assist in the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, according to contracts posted on the Department’s website on September 22.

The contract, valued at $25,998,051, involves creating technical orders tailored to Ukraine’s needs, along with other technical support.

It follows a “fixed-price” and “time and materials” model, with work set to take place in Fort Worth, lasting until May 30, 2029.

This contract is part of the broader Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which focuses on strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Previously, it was reported that a Ukrainian F-16 pilot had successfully destroyed a Russian Shahed strike drone using the onboard 20mm six-barrel Vulcan cannon.
