The United States acknowledges the possibility of North Korea sending additional troops to support Russia but has not observed any such transfers so far, according to US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller on December 17.

Speaking at a press briefing, Miller was asked whether there had been any movement of new North Korean military units to Russia amid their significant losses on the battlefield.

“I don’t have any new announcements to make today about new North Korean soldiers that have traveled to Russia, but we continue to assess that might – that’s a possibility, but it’s not something we’ve seen as to date”

Miller also confirmed that the US has documented casualties among North Korean forces stationed in Russia’s Kursk region, both killed and wounded.

Earlier, Ukrainian Special Operation Forces reported that soldiers of the 8th Regiment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed in action 50 and wounded 47 North Korean soldiers over the course of 3 days in Russia’s Kursk region.
