War Rewrites the Script: 5 Dovbush Film Crew Members Killed, 7 Missing and 70 Serving in Ukraine’s Armed Forces
Director of the Ukrainian movie Dovbush Oles Sanin shared that 5 members of the film’s crew had been killed at the front lines, and another 7 were missing in action.
This was reported by Detektor Media citing Sanin’s commentary during the panel “Shelter for culture. The Carpathians as a source of resistance" within the framework of the international forum of Central and Eastern Europe Via Carpatia.
“Speaking of the Dovbush film crew, 5 have lost their lives, 7 are missing, and 70 are currently serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defense Forces, including actors, stunt performers, film technicians, artists, and cinematographers,” Sanin said.
Dovbush is a Ukrainian adventure-historical movie. The film’s plot draws from folklore legends about the outlaw leader Oleksa Dovbush. Set in the 18th century in the Hutsul region, an ethnocultural region in the south-eastern part of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
At the beginning of September, Serhii Pavlichenko, a folk multi-instrumentalist, who played the lyre in the 2023 “Dovbush” movie, was killed in action in the Pokrovsk direction of the Donetsk region.
