Ukrainian Folk Musician Serhii Pavlichenko Killed in Action in Donetsk Region

Serhii Pavlichenko, a folk multi-instrumentalist, was killed in action in the Pokrovsk direction of the Donetsk region.

Pavlichenko created banduras, kobzas, lyres, and harps, and went to the frontline as a volunteer at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Taras Kompanichenko, a bandurist, and leader of the Khoreya Kozatska band, noted that Serhii Pavlichenko was a member of the Kobzarskyi Tsekh (Kobzar guild), a member of the historical club "Black Zaporozhians" and participated in both the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity of 2014.

Pavlichenko played the lyre in the 2023 “Dovbush” movie about Oleksa Dovbush, the most famous of the opryshka leaders in the Carpathian Mountains.

The director of the film "Dovbush", Oles Sanin, also expressed his condolences and recalled Pavlichenko’s work.

“Yesterday we received the news that our brother laid down his head for our freedom at the frontline near Pokrovsk. You were always a Warrior, always a Knight. Eternal glory to you brother. Kingdom of Heaven.”
