Woman Killed in Russian Shelling Attack on Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Region
A 71-year-old woman was killed during a Russian shelling attack in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region.
The assault, initiated in the evening, continues with artillery shells and kamikaze drones targeting residential areas. Alongside the loss of life, two women sustained injuries, while fires damaged several homes, garages, and outbuildings. The attacks also caused damage to vehicles and interrupted power transmission lines. Despite defensive actions, such as the destruction of three enemy drones overnight, civilian safety remains under threat in the region.
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Sergey Lysak, speaking on Telegram and confirmed by the State Emergency Service, the attacks on Nikopol and its surroundings persist. Lysak reported that the enemy employs both artillery and kamikaze drones, with Nikopol suffering the most damage since the evening.
As a result of the strikes, two women, aged 70 and 61, sustained injuries, though they are expected to receive outpatient treatment. Additionally, fires broke out in the city, damaging around fifteen private homes, a garage, two outbuildings, and leaving ten others severely damaged. Several vehicles were destroyed or damaged, and power transmission lines were also affected.
The attacks were not confined to Nikopol alone; neighboring communities such as Myrivka and Marganets were also targeted, with residents fortunately escaping unharmed.
Lysak also mentioned that overnight, defenders destroyed three “Shahed” drones, two in the Dnipro region and one in the Kryvyi Rih district.
Further details emerged from rescuers who clarified that a residential area in the city was engulfed in flames, resulting in the destruction of a house, two garages, and a car, with the total fire area reaching 120 square meters. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.
