Zelenskyy and UK PM Starmer Discuss Defense Support and Drone Production Ahead of Rome Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to align diplomatic efforts and finalize expectations for the Coalition of the Willing summit in Rome in the coming days, according to the post on his official Telegram channel published on July 7.
The leaders committed to leveraging Ramstein and other formats to deliver “the strongest possible decisions” and to expand cooperation in crucial defense sectors.
During their discussion, Starmer expressed condolences over recent Russian mass shelling and pledged additional UK funding this month to scale up Ukraine’s domestic drone production, with a focus on interceptor models.

Zelenskyy noted that bolstering drone output “from production lines to the front” is vital to protect civilian lives and sustain battlefield resilience. The two agreed to explore new collaborative mechanisms with key partners under the Ramstein format and beyond to ensure “more robust life-saving capabilities.”
Zelenskyy also confirmed that the next Coalition meeting will take place in Rome within days.
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced new crypto sanctions targeting Russian war funds, aiming to freeze digital wallets linked to sanctioned entities and coordinate enforcement with G7 partners.
