Zelenskyy Appoints Olga Stefanishyna US Envoy as She Awaits Ambassador Confirmation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed former Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna as Special Representative for the Development of Cooperation with the United States.
“In this role, Olha will work to maintain momentum in relations with America while all the necessary procedures for Washington’s approval of her candidacy as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States are ongoing,” the President stated.
“I’m grateful to Olha for her work on European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Her efforts were successful and led to real progress. In just a few years, Ukraine has moved closer to the European Union than it had in the previous several decades.”
The President also stated that Stefanishyna played a role in negotiations with the United States on a new framework for economic cooperation, including the creation of the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund.
“We will continue working with America on this foundation,” President Zelenskyy said, “adding mutually beneficial economic content to our political and diplomatic partnership.”
In 2020, Stefanishyna was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and later joined the political council of the Servant of the People party. In 2024, she was named Minister of Justice while continuing in her role as Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration. She has led Ukraine’s integration portfolio for over five years.
Previously on July 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined a vision for Ukraine’s defense and economic future, placing domestic weapons production and regulatory reform at the center of his proposed government reshuffle.
