Keith Kellogg, US Special Envoy, visited Ukrainian defense facilities and praised the country’s rapid technological advancements, particularly in the field of drone warfare, urging the US defense industry to learn from Ukraine’s agility and innovation, Kellogg wrote on X on July 17.
“I saw firsthand how Ukrainian-made drones are being built and developed. Incredible innovation, especially with drones,” Kellogg wrote.
“In this new age/type of war, they lead. Their speed of innovation and ability to recycle is impressive. Our defense industrial base should take notice and adapt.”

Kellogg toured multiple defense production sites alongside Ukrainian officials, including Strategic Industries Deputy Minister Anna Gvozdiar and Defense Technology Chief Herman Smetanin.
Kellogg’s praise for Ukraine’s drone sector comes amid growing international recognition of the country’s ability to rapidly field and refine unmanned systems under wartime conditions. He noted that the innovation he witnessed was not only impressive but strategically significant in the evolving landscape of modern warfare.
Later that day, Kellogg also visited the National Guard of Ukraine’s training centers, where he was received by Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko.

According to the National Guard’s press service, the American delegation observed training exercises involving tank and infantry fighting vehicle crews, drone operations, and robotic combat platforms.
Kellogg reportedly commended the courage of Ukrainian soldiers and the high standards of their preparation, emphasizing that Ukraine’s battlefield experience holds valuable lessons for armed forces worldwide.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Keith Kellogg, US Special Envoy, to discuss the path to peace and practical steps that can be taken to bring it closer.
