President Zelenskyy attended the G7 leaders' summit and engaged in a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to RBC-Ukraine on February 24.
“A productive meeting, important words of principle from most partners. We are counting on the unity of the world – Europe, America, all parts of the world and peoples who strive to live in peace and on the basis of predictable rules, on the basis of international law,” the Ukrainian president said during a media briefing.
Earlier, the U.S. opposed the inclusion of the term “Russian aggression” in a G7 statement marking the third anniversary of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to five Western officials cited by the Financial Times on February 20. This stance risks undermining G7 unity and could affect Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s participation in a virtual summit.
The disagreement follows remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who blamed Ukraine for the war, described Zelenskyy as a “dictator without elections,” and suggested that Russia should rejoin the G7.
