Zelenskyy: First North Korean Soldiers to Be Deployed by Russia on Battlefield by October 27-28
On October 27-28, the first North Korean troops will be used by Russia in combat zones, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following an intelligence report from the Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"This is an obvious escalating step by Russia, which is significant, in contrast to all the misinformation that has been heard a lot in Kazan these days," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy called on a principled and strong reaction from world leaders.
“The actual engagement of North Korea in hostilities should not be met with closed eyes and confused comments, but with tangible pressure on both Moscow and Pyongyang to comply with the UN Charter and punish escalation,” Zelenskyy concluded.
On October 14, Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, referenced intelligence reports indicating North Korea's de facto involvement in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, stated on October 23 in Rome that there is evidence of North Korean troops in Russia, marking the first public confirmation from the US in response to multiple reports from Ukraine and South Korea.
