Radio Svoboda Publishes Exclusive Footage of Russian Military Involvement in Bucha Massacre

On March 31, Radio Svoboda published previously unseen footage from the mass shootings in Bucha, offering new evidence of Russian military involvement in the killings of civilians in the Ukrainian city.
On March 5, 2022, Mykola Brednev, a Bucha resident, was attempting to evacuate Bucha with acquaintances when their vehicle came under heavy fire by Russian troops on Zavodska Street and one of the bullets struck Brednev in the head.
According to Svoboda investigation, the shootings are believed to have involved Russian troops from the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment from Pskov, a city located in the northwest of Russia, near the border with Estonia and Latvia.
Between March 3 and March 5, 2022, Russian soldiers killed at least six civilian men on Zavodska Street. This was confirmed by data from the Bucha City Council’s Archives Department, verified by Radio Svoboda.

Despite numerous pieces of evidence linking Russian military forces to the mass killings in Bucha, the Kremlin continues to deny its involvement.
The investigation was produced by Dmytro Dzhulai, Yevhen Chak, Yelyzaveta Tkachenko, Volodymyr Pautov, and Vladyslav Yatskiv.
In related news, the National Police of Ukraine identified 12 Russian servicemen involved in the killings of civilians in Bucha in March 2022. On January 20, it was announced that the commander of the unit has been formally charged with violating the laws and customs of war, as well as premeditated murder.
