President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine held diplomatic talks with Prime Minister Simon Harris of Ireland during his return from the NATO summit in Washington. Zelenskyy communicated the details of their meeting through official channels, focusing on Ireland’s support for Ukraine, joint efforts in demining and cybersecurity, and plans to implement decisions from the recent Summit on Peace for Ukraine.

A key agenda item was raising awareness about children forcefully deported by Russia, underscoring Ukraine’s appeal for global attention and support on this humanitarian issue. Zelenskyy thanked Ireland for its support during the Summit on Peace for Ukraine in Switzerland and acknowledged Prime Minister Harris for his personal commitment to facilitating the return of displaced children.

They also discussed Prime Minister Harris’s upcoming visit to Kyiv, highlighting Ireland’s ongoing engagement and support for Ukraine’s security efforts. Practical matters, such as the need for shelters to protect Ukrainian educational institutions, were also addressed.

Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine’s gratitude for Ireland’s condolences following the recent Russian attack on the Ohmadyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv. He also requested Ireland’s consideration in providing medical treatment for Ukrainian children with oncological conditions who cannot access necessary care at home.
