Zelenskyy Ready to Meet Putin to Resolve Territory and Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Issues

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, to resolve what he called the two most sensitive remaining issues in peace talks—territory and the future control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, according to European Pravda on January 27.
In an interview with the outlet, Sybiha said the questions of “territories” and the plant were still not agreed and that “it is precisely to resolve them that the president is ready to meet with Putin and discuss it.”

Sybiha said he saw no need for a separate meeting with Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, arguing that “we should not create parallel tracks” because negotiating teams had already been formed and included foreign ministry representatives.
He added that negotiators had held substantive discussions on ceasefire parameters and on how a truce would be monitored or verified.

Zelenskyy stated on January 26 that preparations were underway for another meeting of negotiating teams from Ukraine, the US, and Russia, scheduled for February 1.
Earlier, it was reported that President Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s refusal to cede any territory, stating that the country will not “give or forget anything” in negotiations with Russia.
