There is no sustained Russian foothold in the Dnipro region. Instead, Russian forces launch small reconnaissance-sabotage teams to approach the administrative border, primarily to generate propaganda footage, before being detected and neutralized by Ukrainian units, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the June 13 media briefing.

“Regarding the Dnipro region. There is currently no advancement of the grouping into the Dnipro region. However, an information campaign is very important for them. Just as in Sumy they claim they are approaching the city. And there that claim corresponds to reality. In the Dnipro region they are trying at least to set one foot on the administrative border. For them it’s a big story: to take photos, videos, etc. Therefore they dispatch small reconnaissance-sabotage teams simply to achieve this. For example, today it was reported that one such group was found, and our forces destroyed it. They were one kilometer from the administrative border. The group numbered six people. They advanced simply because they were small and went unnoticed. ‘Zelenka’ appeared. [President refers to increased ammount of greenery on the fronlines, making masking easier, —ed.] Everything bloomed up, and so it’s clear they will start running betwen trenched,” the president said to journalists during the meeting.

“It is important for them to get closer to Sumy, to go to Pokrovsk. But Pokrovsk is also a strategic target, while the Dnipro region is important for them informationally,” Zelenskyy added.

Earlier, a fact-check article debunked a viral photo claiming Russian forces were massed at the Dnipro region border, confirming no enemy units had advanced beyond the administrative line and that Ukrainian troops retained full control of the frontier.
