Zelenskyy: Russia Loses Entire North Korean Battalion in Kursk Within 48 Hours
Russia has suffered significant losses in the Kursk region over the past two days, with up to an entire battalion of North Korean soldiers and Russian paratroopers eliminated, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In his evening address, Zelenskyy shared details from a briefing by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. The report highlighted intense fighting near the village of Makhnivka, where Ukrainian forces inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy.
“Over the last two days, in battles near the village of Makhnovka, the Russian army lost up to a battalion of North Korean infantry and Russian paratroopers. These are notable losses,” President Zelenskyy stated.
The President commended Ukrainian units for their professionalism and effectiveness in combat operations. He specifically recognized the Special Operations Forces and the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade for their contributions.
Zelenskyy also noted that fierce battles are ongoing across the front line, with particularly intense fighting reported in the Pokrovsk direction. Despite persistent assaults by Russian forces, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions and inflict substantial losses on the enemy.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over 3,000 North Korean soldiers had been killed or wounded in Russia’s Kursk region during their deployment to support Moscow’s war effort. Meanwhile, Pyongyang continues to supply Russia with artillery, ammunition, and drones, while receiving missile technologies, nuclear expertise, and other military advancements in return.
