On March 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his evening address that Ukraine is currently engaged in its most intensive discussions yet with U.S. President Donald Trump’s team, aiming for a swift and lasting peace.

“Today has been the most intensive day of work with Trump’s team at all levels. Many calls, all centered on a clear theme—securing peace as quickly as possible and ensuring lasting security. Ukraine remains fully committed to a constructive approach,” Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, he condemned Russia’s latest missile strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian targets, describing it as a routine yet cynical attack.

“Today’s Russian strike on our energy system and civilian sites happened as routinely, as cowardly, and as cynically as always—almost as if there were no global efforts to end this war,” Zelenskyy stated.

He reiterated Ukraine’s readiness to achieve peace, emphasizing that the country has already proposed concrete steps toward ending the war. However, he stressed that Russia must be pressured into peace, as its continued attacks demonstrate its reluctance to engage in real diplomacy.

“Ukraine is ready for peace as soon as possible. We have proposed clear steps. Yet, every day, new Russian strikes and the reality on the ground prove that Russia must be forced into peace—into stopping the war, engaging in real diplomacy, ensuring security, and committing to a stable, lasting resolution,” Zelenskyy added.

Previously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his address to the European Council, announced that Ukraine and the United States put discussions back on track and expressed hope for a “productive meeting” in the coming week.
