Ukraine’s Sargan-3000 unmanned surface vessel shot down a Russian Shahed drone using an onboard turret, the Ukrainian Navy reported on October 8.

The Navy said the Sargan-3000 engaged the Shahed with turret fire while the drone operated through a mesh network.

“The Shahed on the mesh network was hit by fire from the turret installed aboard the Sargan-3000 unmanned surface vessel,” the Navy stated.

Militarnyi reported that the naval drone used a 12.7 mm RWS Protector remote weapon station to engage the aerial target. The combat module includes an electro-optical sighting system for tracking and firing on targets.

The Sargan-3000 entered service with the Ukrainian Navy in April 2026, according to Militarnyi. It is designed for combat missions at significant distances from the Ukrainian coast.

Militarnyi wrote that the unmanned vessel has a combat radius of up to 1,600 kilometers, can reach speeds of 40 to 55 knots, and can carry a combat payload of up to 450 kilograms.

About a month earlier, Ukraine’s Sargan-3000 naval drone destroyed a Russian uncrewed surface vessel in the Black Sea using its 12.7 mm RWS Protector turret. The Ukrainian Navy described the engagement as the first recorded battle in history between two uncrewed surface vessels.
